Gift Idea No. 11 – The Solution for Relatives Who “Don’t Do Digital”

December 1, 2012

A whole bunch of you probably just read the above headline and rolled your eyes. Or you grinned with recognition.

We all have them. The grandmother who has never even gone near a computer, let alone established an email address. The great-uncle who stubbornly refuses to buy a DVD player. The sister-in-law who still hasn’t figured out how to access that CD full of digital pictures you sent her two years ago.

You would think that these are not the kind of people that we, at Priceless Photo Preservation, can serve.

After all, we digitize photos, films, scrapbooks, slides and videos. And for the Luddite members of your extended family, “digital” is a seven-letter word.

However,”digital” is not what Priceless Photo Preservation is all about.

In fact, we can put together the perfect gifts for them – gifts that will mean the world to them and they won’t need a user manual to operate.

Here are at least three possible gift ideas:

  • Digital photo frames. Yes, they have the “D-Word” in their names. But these nifty little devices are absolutely perfect for those relatives who never even plugged n a VCR. Let’s say you have digitized hundreds of slides, family photo albums and other images with us. We can upload them to an SD card (a 2 gB card will accept typically up to anywhere from 1,000 to 1,600 JPEGs) and insert them into a digital photo frame. all they have to do is plug it in and have a picture frame that changes pictures every few seconds.
  • DVD slide shows. Perhaps at the very least, the technological holdouts among your loved ones have purchased and are using a DVD player. If that is the case, why not provide them with a slide show of family photos an/or slides? It can last up to two hours and include a musical soundtrack. Who needs Netflix? This is a perfect way to spend a long winter’s night.
  • Photo books. Turn your analog memories back into analog keepsakes. Select the best pictures you’ve just digitized and we will turn them into a beautiful photo book that you can send out to family members and close friends. What an easy way to add a  personal touch to your holiday gift-giving. What’s more, there’s no need for a hard drive and or even a power outlet.

As always, if you are interested, drop us a line at  or call us at 734-219-3916. We offer pickup and drop-off service throughout southeast Michigan and northwestern Ohio. We work with photos, slides, films, videos and even family photo albums and scrapbooks. We are now serving the Grand Rapids area as well with the same services.

Come back Monday for our 12th and final holiday gift suggestion.
